Boko Haram Conducts Night Raid In Borno, Abducts 200 Female Students

Suspected Boko Haram sect members attacked Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, in the night of April 14, 2014, Monday.
According to DailyPost, a soldier and a police officer were killed, Governmental Girls’ Secondary School and the Chibok Local Government secretariat were burnt. The militants have also razed about 100 homes because some of the residents initially resisted them.
BBC Hausa reported that about 200 GGSS female students may have been kidnapped by Boko Haram fighters, while sources of Saharareporters confirmed the abduction of 103 girls.
The gunmen, who set the college building ablze, ordered the hostel's teenage residents onto four lorries. The mass abduction lasted between 9pm and 3am. Sect members made several trips picking and choosing their victims.

A student, who did not wish to be named, told the newsmen that she had escaped after seeing her classmates jumping out of the back of a lorry.
Another local source revealed that there was complete chaos during the attack, adding that the students could not put up any resistance to the heavily armed attackers.
The exact number of civilian casualties cannot be ascertained at the time of filing the present report. Hundreds of residents were reported fleeing the LGA.
It would be noted that in the last two weeks Boko Haram changed its tactics, switched to terrorising travellers along the major highways in Borno and in the neighbouring states. The Federal Government still remains undecided on further prolongation of the emergency rule in the North East which expires on April 19, 2014.
