bomb scare: Government Evacuates Abuja Federal Secretariat

undefinedThe Nyanya bombing on Monday morning has set Abuja in a state of unrest and confusion as fears of another attack has led to the distortion of regular activities.

The deepening anxiety in the Federal Capital has forced state authorities to clear out and evacuate offices and buildings as a security measure to prevent more loss of lives to terror attacks.
Offices are reportedly being evacuated amid speculation that explosives had been planted in public places a day after a car bomb which killed tons of people and injured several others was set off in the Abuja.
The federal secretariat, which houses many government ministries, was evacuated Tuesday afternoon shortly after the National Assembly, which is located around the same district, was cleared.
Staff members in the building report that they were ordered to go home, although it has not been confirmed that any bombs or explosives have been discovered in the building premises.
The ministry of education was among the first offices within the secretariat to be evacuated, workers said. The office lies near the ministries of health, science and technology, women affairs, communication technology and Niger Delta.
